- Milford police seized drugs and firearms from a Shadowbrook Lane apartment on April 23.
- Police found cocaine, marijuana, THC concentrate, THC edibles, two 9mm pistols, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
- Police believe the drugs may be linked to several recent overdoses in town.
Milford Police are calling a drug and gun bust they made on Wednesday, April 23, “pretty significant,” saying the drugs the suspect allegedly sold may be tied to several overdoses in town.
Police arrested Steven Consigli, 29, at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday at his 18 Shadowbrook Lane apartment, Chief Robert Tusino said Thursday.
“It was a pretty significant bust,” Tusino said. “I can’t stress enough that this was due to the front-end officers on patrol working with the detective bureau. It was that cooperation that brought this to conclusion.”
The chief said the investigation was sparked by an “ongoing problem” of several “near-fatal” overdoses. Through the investigation, investigators were able to track many of the drugs to 18 Shadowbrook Lane, the chief said, specifically Consigli’s apartment.
Police obtained a search warrant for the apartment and served it on Wednesday. No one answered when they knocked on the door, so officers used a battering ram to force their way into the unit, police said.
What police say they found inside the apartment
Once inside, police said they found 62 grams (2.18 ounces) of cocaine, 2.4 pounds of marijuana, 308 grams (10.86 ounces) of THC concentrate and more than 2,000 milograms of THC edibles.
Police also said they found two 9 mm pistols, as well as a part of another gun, several magazines and ammunition. They also said they found items typically used in drug distribution, including scales, bags and other paraphernalia, as well as a large amount of cash.
Tusino said the discovery of the guns was concerning.
“There was a lot of firepower there, and it’s horribly wrong on many levels,” he said. “It’s not like he’s out on a farm with no one around, which was still bad, but he was in a multi-unit building in a populated area.”
Milford suspect faces long list of charges
Consigli is charged with trafficking in cocaine of more than 36 grams; possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute; possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute; possession of cocaine; illegal possession of a large capacity firearm; possession of a large capacity firearm during the commission of a felony; nine counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device; improper storage of a large capacity firearm; and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Police also charged him with two counts each of possession of a firearm without a license; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; and improper storage of a firearm.
During Consigli’s arraignment on Thursday, April 24, in Milford District Court, Judge Richard Eustis ordered him held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he's a danger to the public. Consigli is due back in court on April 28 for the dangerousness hearing.
Consigli’s lawyer, Steven Patten, could not be reached for comment.
